Well a few months have passed since our last King Kong Construction update. Needless to say, a lot has changed:
Beautiful as always. You can see that the main entry signage has been added and two completed skulls are hanging from the themed light post. I also want to believe that the two torches on either wide of the sculpted Kong face will be lit (fire just makes rides better, right?).
From up here we can see that the massive entry doors to Skull Island have been added (and testing!) while the main rockwork structure up front continues to be fine tuned.
I can’t really tell much from this picture, but I personally believe the white dots on the top of the rockwork structure are speakers. This means that A/V installation has begun which means we are one step closer to seeing King Kong open!
I apologize for the blur, but this is what my cheap camera gives me when I attempt to zoom in! As you can see, there will be plenty of skulls (how fitting) in the thematic treatment of this exterior queue.
Speaking of queues, look at how much progress has been made! It is incredible to me that the foliage can just be placed in and look as if it has been there forever. For reference, this is what it looked like in early November:
I am happy I was able to take these two shots from (roughly) the same location.
From the other side we can see the canopy structure taking place. I have to imagine this will be the future site of the ride lockers.
From the far right corner, a new kiosk has appeared. I am not sure if it will be F&B or Retail, but regardless I am curious to see how it’ll tie in to the theme.
Seeing how much progress has been made leads me to believe we will be seeing King Kong open by summer at the latest, barring any hiccups or setbacks in construction. This ride is truly going to be a unique experience!
