Since we are like most people who can’t start their day without a nice cup o’ Joe, we decided to search for a local coffee shop while driving on NY-17 on our way to Canada. Kev and I found this beautiful local coffee shop in Painted Post, NY, Heavenly Cup Coffee:
Kev doesn’t look too happy because he hadn’t gotten his iced latte yet…
When you walk into Heavenly Cup, you can see the machinery used for roasting the beans through a large window.
The coffee shop was decorated comfortably and homey. There were very comfortable chairs to sit in, as well as the tables you see in the picture above. Upstairs, there was another seating area overlooking the bottom floor. Kevin’s favorite touch were the numerous plants and flowers along the windows.

They also sell a variety of their blends per pound, and the prices were extremely reasonable. I believe they were about $13/lb, which is well worth it since you pay the about same price at Dunkin Donuts!
Heavenly Cup coffee by the pound!
Now…onto the coffee itself. The menu offered a variety of coffee blends to please both those who are drawn to blonde roasts and those who like their coffee bold. I ordered the Columbian blend, and Kev ordered his go-to iced latte. Also, since we needed nourishment for breakfast, we decided to try one of their cinnamon rolls (breakfast of champions!).

Loved the custom hot coffee cups!
Obviously savoring the cinnamon roll…
The verdict: “Small batch roasted, Big cup flavor” was printed on their cups-and I know why! My coffee was deliciously bold; wasn’t bitter and didn’t have a burnt after-taste. Though I only tried their darkest roast, I cannot see how their lighter blends wouldn’t also be delicious due to their in-house roasting and homey environment. Kevin was also very happy with his latte. The espresso was strong and was not overpowered by milk, which was a nice change from other coffee houses!
The cinnamon roll we shared also deserves respect. I wasn’t able to get a picture since Kev instantaneously inhaled it, but I suppose that’s a good sign. The filling and dough were gooey, and I was very happy with the amount of cinnamon-sugar flavor. It was not stale or crunchy at all-a perfect breakfast treat (although I wish I had gotten more than only a few bites…).
I would highly recommend Heavenly Cup. It’s nice to find a comfortable coffee house where the beans are roasted within the same building. If we are ever again in the area, we will definitely be paying this gem another visit.
