Revenge of the Mummy - 38 votes

The favorite attraction of our participants was the park’s Premier Rides indoor coaster, Revenge of the Mummy. This is not surprising to me, as this coaster is extremely re-rideable. It is unique enough to differentiate itself from other coasters in the area, but yet features forces and thrills that I don’t think you can find elsewhere in the park. For that reason, I am in total agreement that this is my favorite attraction at Universal Studios Florida.

Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts - 19 votes

The entire Diagon Alley area of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is spectacular, and the area’s “A-Level” attraction follows suit in its own right. Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts is a phenomenal example of just how successful large media sets mixed with roller coaster elements can be. The dynamic nature of the vehicles used on the attraction is also very impressive. I would not personally say this is my second favorite attraction in the park, it is a great attraction in every sense.

Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit - 15 votes

This one surprised me. Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is the studios tallest and fastest roller coaster, but that means very little to me when the experience is inhibited by the uncomfortable nature of the ride. I find this attraction hardly enjoyable unless you happen to get on the front row, but even that has some shuffling. I will say that the helix at the ride’s turnaround is surprisingly powerful, but the rest of the ride lacks the forces that you’d want in your “big” coaster. For those of you who voted for HRRR, could you please provide input on what did it for you?

Men in Black Alien Attack - 10 votes

Men in Black is truly one of the best shooter-style dark rides on the market, even though it is nearly 17 years young. The responsiveness to the targets is almost always on point, although sometimes the targets on the fusion exhaust ports can be a little tough to get to. Regardless, the “insider” secrets to getting the envied 999,999 makes this attraction great for both the first-time rider and the seasoned veteran.

E.T. Adventure - 10 votes

The next one on our list is purely-based on nostalgia. E.T. Adventure is the last original attraction left at Universal Studios Florida. The ride has been through it’s fair share of renovations, but it still remains a classic at the park. I am an E.T. sucker as much as the next guy due to it’s awesome interior queue and ride misters that make the Florida humidity feel like nothing, but I wouldn’t be able to say it’s my favorite attraction at the park. That being said, I hope this ride stays put for the foreseeable future.

Transformers: The Ride - 6 votes

Outside of Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, Transformers being this low on the list is the biggest surprise to me. This ride features some of the best, if not the best, media on an attraction in the world as it sends you through the streets of Chicago at 4k resolution. Some of the media screens are so large that they require 3 different projectors. To me, this is one of the best attractions at the park. The fact that it is so low makes me question just how much people enjoy 4D Dark Rides. It is fairly common to hear people complain about Universal only putting in media-based attractions, but what is it that people do not enjoy? Is it the lack of thrills/forces that a roller coaster offers?

The Simpsons Ride - 5 votes

Simpsons having this many fans is also a bit of a surprise to me. I am a fan of the attraction’s facade, but that’s about it. This is a ride I go on if I happen to walk by and it’s a 10-minute wait. The simulator aspect of the ride is enjoyable enough, but it by no means makes me want to get back in line and do it again. The most likely reason I could imagine people would say this is their favorite attraction at the studios is because they are huge Simpsons fans.

So I am a bit surprised that Transformers and Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit aren’t flip flopped. Is it simply because one is a coaster and the other isn’t? Are people inclined to dislike 4D Dark Rides because “that’s all Universal has been doing recently” or is it something else? Thanks to everyone who voted! Stay tuned for another new poll!
